Welcome to The

The Conventional Framing Academy

We offer in-depth training in wood framing design. Our objective is to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to design the structural elements in wood framed construction.

The Program

The Residential Wood Framing Design Series

"We take a deep dive into the code, unravel its complexities, and emerge with a fully designed two-story home—armed with the knowledge to design structures and build a great reputation."

This program focuses on the structural design of wood framed residential structures. This course is based on the conventional construction provisions in the International Residential Code (2021 IRC). The course is divided into 4 modules that are approved by the ICC to provide continuing education units (CEUs) under the preferred provider program. Each of the modules is sold separately (you do not need to enroll into the entire series/program at the same time).

IMPORTANT: Nearly all states in the United States have statutes permitting everyone to design 1 or 2 family residential building using the conventional construction provisions in the International Residential Code (or the State amended version of the IRC). You are NOT required to be a licensed engineer or licensed architect except under very extreme cases such as regions with ultimate wind speeds over 140 miles per hour.
