Conventional Framing Master Bundle

This course offers comprehensive training on the design of conventionally framed wood roofs for residential structures and is based on the international Residential code. This module covers roof loading, the design of roof framing elements such as rafters, ceiling joists, roof sheathing and all pertinent connections. This module also includes training on the integration of engineered trusses in conventional framing.

This course offers comprehensive training on the design of residential wood framed walls and concrete foundation and is based on the international Residential code. The course covers wall loading and the design of wall studs, headers, jack studs, king studs and wind uplift connections. Additionally, this course covers foundations with concrete and masonry stem walls as well as concrete and masonry foundation walls.

This course provides comprehensive training on conventional floor and deck construction according to the International Residential Code. The course covers floor loading, sizing of floor joists, notching, bridging, and lateral supports, the design of floor sheathing, deck joists, decking, deck beams, deck posts, deck ties, guard rails and foundations. This course also includes a floor and deck design project.

This course offers in-depth training on wood-framed wall bracing design in accordance with the 2021 IRC. It is the first installment in a two-part series on wall bracing. Topics include seismic and wind design criteria, weight and height limitations, the layout of braced wall lines, and the most widely used bracing methods specified in the IRC. Practical examples are provided throughout to reinforce key concepts.

Building on Part 1, this advanced course dives deep into wall bracing design per the 2021 IRC. Learn to determine required bracing, evaluate factors affecting bracing capacity, ensure a continuous load path, and meet foundation requirements. The course also addresses how to identify and design for irregular structures as defined by the IRC.
